Jpgs are great for the amount of photos one can take on an outing vs  raw is wonderful for making the slight corrections needed to take an image to the next level.  recently i hav been shooting jpg for the simplicity of uploading trip reports and documenting my backcountry travels.  every once in awhile being in the right place at the right time is the shot you are after.  in this case a friend of mine had to bail early to pick up the kids and he gave me the opportunity of this shot; arching in good style in the winter conditions that go away all to quickly in the backcountry.  this image rendered some weird colors of green in the snow and i had very little lattitude to make any corrections to bring it to the next level.  i actually made some very small adjustments with levels and desaturated it to get rid of the weird color the jpg was rendering in the snow.  i think i will continue to shoot raw because you never know what your friends have to offer.
